Decanter Magazine Review
Rated 93
Aged for 22 months in 66% new French oak (Nadalié and Giraud cooperages), with grapes sourced from Holmes Vineyard and Lincoln Creek Vineyard in Oakville. Immediately expressive of Oakville's signature garrigue and dark fruit character, nuanced by liquorice and black olive. Full-bodied and creamy on entry, with supple tannins and generous, juicy fruit leading to a short, drier finish. The tannins emerge from the fruit, becoming more assertive toward the end. Enjoy alongside well-salted New York strip steaks or burgers. Drinking Window: 2025-2035.
Wine Tasting Notes
Our "Mise en place" Cabernet Sauvignon comes from two very special single-vineyard sites located on the extreme eastern and western sides of the Oakville District abutting the rugged and dry Vaca Mountain and verdant Mayacamas mountain ranges. A touch of supple Oakville Merlot from the westside foothills added generous mouthfeel and softness and completed the classic "Bordeaux Left Bank" blend profile. It is called "Mise en place" to reflect the preparation and diligence exercised in the vineyards and winery. We believe it is a "textbook" example of this noble variety grown in this outstanding appellation.
