The 2023 La Tâche is a voluptuous, sensual wine. There is an immense, fruit-forward aroma with mulberry, plum and pomegranate notes suffused with seductive floral aromas and hints of liquorice. The texture is powerful yet lush – the French speak of 'enrobed' tannins, present but not astringent. Bertrand de Villaine says, 'It always reminds me of layers that need to be peeled back to arrive at the essence'. This wine is supremely good. It is more open at this point than Romanée-Conti, yet it has the substance, fruit and structure to live for 60 years or more. Drinking Window: 2028-2090.
