Sourced from Sangiacomo Family Vineyards' Green Acres vineyard, planted in 1969. It smacks of vivid citrusy oil character, honeysuckle, and wild herbs. The palate is focused and linear with dramatic, spicy acidity. This is quite an electric and energetic Chardonnay. The 2022 is more sun-kissed, showing the warmth of the vintage, with perhaps deeper tones of ripe orchard and stone fruit. Tim Colla is the winemaker and partner, and he started in 2015 when he introduced puncheons to the winery cellar. Today, most wines are aged in a mix of standard barrels and 500-litre puncheons, which Colla favours for focus and drive-over flesh. He thinks ageing is suitable for bringing out a wine's flesh.
