Decanter Magazine Review
Rated 95
Gap's Crown is a vineyard deeply shaped by the fierce winds of the Petaluma Gap, and you can see and smell that energy in the glass. Kosta Browne sources fruit from one of the vineyard's highest-elevation blocks, where abundant sunlight and constant exposure lead to thicker grape skins, naturally resulting in deeper colour, firmer tannins, and intense flavour concentration. The 2022 vintage shows a vivid purple hue and layered aromas of dark berries, sweet spice, and a touch of citrus zest. Aged in 46% new French oak, the wine picks up warm baking spice and a plush texture on the palate. The finish is long and savoury, with an edgy echo of amaro-like bitterness and citrus peel. Drinking Window: 2025-2040.
