This family-owned winery continues to pay tribute to the valley with this best of the best Meritage blend, their 26th release. Eleven of the best lots were fermented and aged separately before entering a 24-month, further-aging program in French and American oak. Deep extracted color, with black fruit notes, dark chocolate aromas and oak and vanilla notes. Balanced tannins highlight the Bordeaux-style blending. This is THE wine for holiday dinners.
Wine Tasting Notes
The rich dark purple color only hints at the intense, layered aromas in the glass. Scents of cassis, black cherry, boysenberry, cedar, dark chocolate, along with notes of toasty oak and vanilla are indic-ative of the concentration of this blend. While lush, Alexander Valley Vineyards Cyrus Red Blend has incredible structure and balance with dark fruit flavors of cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate, barrel spice and cardamom. As this wine sits in the glass it just keeps build-ing on itself, hinting at the complexity that will occur with additional cellar aging.
